Meet Chiropractor Amelia Hughes (nee Laxton)
Amelia first encountered Chiropractic after receiving successful treatment to manage long-standing neck pain and headaches. She had always hoped to pursue a career in healthcare, working to help and care for others, so Chiropractic was the perfect fit for her! She subsequently embarked upon a full time Masters Degree to become a qualified Doctor of Chiropractic and graduated from the AECC University College with a First Class honours. Amelia now works across two clinics in Yorkshire.
Headache Sufferers
Amelia has a keen interest in the treatment and management of patients suffering from chronic headaches and migraines that originate from the neck. She completed a research paper during her training which investigated the effects of chiropractic treatment on headaches. This particular area of care has naturally become a special interest of hers.
Hands On and Rehabilitation Care
Amelia combines hands on chiropractic treatment with rehabilitation and lifestyle advice to help patients manage their symptoms and empower them to take better control of their own health.
Patients of All Ages and New Mums
Amelia has treated many patients from a broad age range, from the very young to the very old, and finds this variety is the part of the job she loves the most. Whilst training she helped to run a breast feeding clinic for new mums. This experience allowed Amelia to witness and develop her knowledge on the effects on the musculoskeletal system from pregnancy and birth and the effects of musculoskeletal dysfunction on breastfeeding. Amelia has also completed further training in the treatment of pregnant patients suffering with spine, joint and muscle discomfort and she is delighted to help both pregnant women and new mums to live full and comfortable lives.
Outside of the Office
In her spare time, Amelia is a very keen runner and particularly enjoys the challenge of an event. She is currently training to run the prestigious London Marathon, her third marathon to date. Amelia realises the importance of strengthening and rehabilitation to ensure good function and this is something she incorporates into the treatment plans she creates for her patients.
